The independent nation of Brazil, at the time affiliated with neither the [[Free Market Block]] nor the [[Eurasian Soviet]], experienced a period of organic political arrest beginning with their presidential elections in October of that year, when a populist candidate for the presidency was defeated in the voting, and their supporters began rioting in Rio. Both of the polar powers, misjudging the situation, began to funnel in support for their favoured candidates in the form of both material wealth and support from black-budget PMCs. The resultant discovery of hard evidence of this and its release by [[Project Clarity]] operatives resulted in absolute unrest and upheval, which lead to the Brazillian Civil War and, ultimately, the assession of the Republic of Brazil into the [[Free Market Block]].
