The war began with border skirmishes between Nepal and the [[Eurasian Soviet]] after Nepalese support for the [[Returning Government]] rebel group.

In spite of a negotiated peace in the form of the [[Christmas Armistice of 2036]], the conflict remained a sore point in both the [[South Asian Free States]] and the [[Eurasian Soviet]] for the remaining pre-war period, and likely resulted in the selection of [[Project Great Way]] over [[Project Red Wave]] in the early stages of the [[Third World War]].
