An Ace Type is a term referring to a Lorica that has been extensively modified and customized for the use of a single operator, usually an elite Lorica pilot or high-ranking Lorica unit commander. It's a common convention to refer to such a unit by the pilot's name; for example, the Ace Type Frisson piloted by Teophania Mors during the Battle of Moscow was even at the time widely known as the Frisson Teophania Mors type.
An Ace Type differs from a Commander Type in that the Commander Type implies a very specific battlefield role, but an Ace Type might encompass any other combat archetype. It also differs from the sometimes-conventional practice of individual pilots or teams of pilots customizing basic parameters of the vehicle or specifying a personal-preference loadout. Using the above example of the Teophania Mors Frisson, it differed extensively from its base model, especially where the drive and movement systems were concerned.
